Employee Highlight: Doug Lauer

Douglas Lauer, PE, PMP, MBA, is a Principal Power Engineer out of H2E’s Liberty Lake office. Originally from Cottonwood, Idaho; Doug joined H2E in early 2006 after many years in the steel and wood product manufacturing industries. During the past 20 years Doug has served in many leadership and operational roles, including Project Manager, Client Manager, Board Member, Owner, and Principal Power Engineer. With extensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho, an MBA, and Professional Engineer licenses in seventeen states, Doug has contributed vastly to H2E’s technical growth and corporate success.

Upon joining H2E, Doug quickly expanded his expertise into Client Management for H2E’s newest sector at the time, Mining, playing a key role in establishing our knowledge, relationships and presence in the industry. Now with two decades of experience supporting Mines and an array of other industrial sites, Doug has become a wealth of operational and electrical knowledge for Mining facilities. In passing his expertise down to the next generation of engineers at H2E, Doug always starts with the same advice: “We are here to solve problems. Always apply yourself to the point of having a solution before asking for help, it will give you certainty when answering the question, ‘Is this my best work?’” According to Doug, this mindset has led to the confidence necessary to be an expert on a Client’s system.

Doug has recently begun his transition toward retirement; he will be transferring to part-time work; where he will continue to provide Client Management and Engineering Support. He plans to travel and take ATV trips through the great state of Idaho with his wonderful wife Kim and their family and friends.

We have been fortunate to have Doug propelling H2E throughout the years and look forward to Doug’s next chapter!
