Baylie Dotson is a Project Manager out of H2E’s Liberty Lake Office who has been managing Projects, Clients, and Engineers with H2E for over three years. Originally from the Spokane area, she received her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Central Washington University, however her path to solving problems started well before that. Baylie realized her love of finding solutions in high school, when she began work at an Automotive Specialty Shop, where learning how everything works together in a mechanical system sparked a life-long interest in engineering and its applications. The Automotive Shop is also coincidentally where she met her husband! Originally starting college at a vehicle research institute, Baylie learned to fully disassemble and reassemble a truck engine. However, her love of hands-on experience drew her to CWU where her favorite classes included electives like machining, casting, and welding, producing metalwork that she displays in her office to this day. The experience gained in engineering technology directly influences her work on diverse industrial projects today!
Being a Project Manager requires a large amount of mental bandwidth, especially when paired with other major life roles, like having a family, Baylie’s philosophy is “Balancing my personal, family and work needs is like the legs of a tripod, if I don’t give one leg the energy it deserves, the other supporting legs start to become askew themselves, but if I keep it balanced, they positively support each other.” While her children may not comprehend the projects that Baylie completes, they certainly enjoy H2E’s employee events, being regulars at our barbeques, campouts, hockey nights and baseball games. According to Baylie “all engineers are kids” so her children fit right in with the rest of the staff.
Starting at H2E as a Project Coordinator, Baylie’s role, responsibility and capabilities have expanded greatly, especially with her advancement to Project Manager. According to Baylie, “I have grown so much as a human being at H2E, this work has propelled me into an understanding who I am and how I’m perceived at a professional and personal level.” And while Baylie may be supporting and guiding projects all day, she is never alone “I have never had an organization pour so much knowledge into their staff before, people are invested in here, there is always guidance and support in place to enable me to figure out the problem.” This sentiment is one of the many reasons that Baylie is constantly improving on her already lengthy list of technical and managerial skills.
We are very lucky to have Baylie on the team!
